Arctic Golf is an 18-hole golf course situated at the Arctic Circle in northern Finland.
The town of Rovaniemi with all its services ( hotels, shopping centres etc.) and transportation connections (airport, railway station) is only a few minutes’ drive away.
Built at the feet of Ounasvaara, the first 9 holes of the course were designed by Pekka Simula in 1997. The course was completed in 2011 with the help of golf architect Lassi Pekka Tilander. The winding fairways on the forestry hillsides offer a relaxed golfing experience for a beginner but the narrow holes and differences in altitude are challenging also for more experienced golfers, especially when played from the back tee. The top of Ounasvaara fell offers beautiful views down to the valley of the rivers Kemijoki and Ounasjoki.
Our season begins at the end of May and lasts until mid-October. In summer it is possible to play around the clock under the midnight sun. Playing in the autumn amidst all the autumn colours is an unbelievable experience.
The clubhouse restaurant with a large terrace is ready to serve customers. There is a small pro shop in connection with the caddiemaster’s office. The locker rooms are equipped with showers. In the immediate vicinity of the club house there is also a driving range and practice areas for putting, chipping and pitching.
Welcome to enjoy an unforgettable golfing experience in Rovaniemi!
In March 2017 golf can be experienced in a whole new way on our winter golf course. With the temperature well below zero and the landscape covered with pure white snow the greens turn into whites and challenge you in unexpected ways.
Winter golfers tread mostly the same paths as summer guests, playing the route of the grass course beneath. In the winter however, the lakes and ponds of the course are used in a different way – as they are frozen, some of the whites are on the ponds and lakes.
Playing golf on snow, you need to equip accordingly. In the white fairways trolleys are changed in to sleds, white golf balls in to bright orange ones and shorts and t-shirts in to warm winter clothes and warming mittens. One also has to note the different rules of snow golf. Players are for example allowed max 3 irons and a putter and 5 iron is the biggest club to play with.
